It’s very important to properly floss your teeth each day. If you don’t use the correct technique, flossing can do more harm than good. So, our dentist, Dr. Reid Marshall, strongly encourages you to focus on properly and effectively flossing your teeth every day. To help you do so, he has some tips you can use. Those tips are:
-Take about 18 inches of floss and wrap most of it around each middle finger. Make sure to leave about 2 inches of floss between them.
-Use the 2 inches of floss to clean the crevices between the teeth. Use your thumb and index fingers to gently push the floss between the teeth. Do not snap it into place.
-Rub the sides of the teeth with the floss. It’s also important to clean the gumline by cleaning along the tooth roots. Make sure to remove the plaque and food particles that reside in those places.
-To remove the floss from between the teeth, just move the floss back and forth and gently pull the floss from the space.
-Use a clean section of floss each time you move to a new crevice.
